Maruki can use his Persona to alter a person's reality, with his first use of it being to make his then-girlfriend forget her parents' murder. Yaldabaoth's manipulation of the world drove Maruki and his Persona over the edge, and they became the new controllers of Mementos and warped all reality into a dream-like ideal. Sumire turns against the protagonist to protect her identity as "Kasumi." The protagonist snaps his friends out of Maruki's reality, then frees Sumire from his influence. Depending on player choices, it is revealed that Akechi's survival is dependant on the new reality, and Maruki offers the protagonist the option of accepting it to save Akechi. Refusing the offer, the reformed Phantom Thieves, including Akechi and Sumire, defeat Maruki. Reality returns to normal, and with Akechi missing and the protagonist in prison. Around a day after the protagonist is pulled into the rehabilitation game, Akechi causes a massive subway accident for the sole reason of framing the traffic department for incompetency. 【P5R 10 31発売！】ペルソナ５ ザ・ロイヤル 「芳澤かすみ」紹介動画 Trusted Reviews has compiled everything you need to know about Persona 5 Royal including all the latest news, release date, gameplay, characters and more When Shadow Sae impedes the party's progress by increasing the number of coins required to enter the Manager's Floor of the casino, Akechi secretly used a loan card that Futaba told him to get rid of, to borrow as many coins from the casino as possible, allowing the party access to the Treasure. After Sae's defeat and the Treasure found, their victory is cut short with a police invasion outside Sae's Palace, heavily implied to be drawn in by Akechi via passive use of the Metaverse Navigator. The protagonist decides to act as a decoy so the rest of the Phantom Thieves can escape, and Akechi follows the others while the protagonist catches the police's attention and is ultimately caught.
PERSONA 5 STORY & RELATIONSHIP SPOILERS AHEAD. Taking the role of a kid in his second year of high school—which in Japan would put the player at roughly 16-17 years old—Persona 5 surrounds you. Sadayo Kawakami (川上 貞代, Kawakami Sadayo) is Class 2-D's Japanese-language and homeroom teacher (Joker and Ann's class). Kawakami avoids Joker until he learns that she is also a maid to pay the guardians of Taiki Takase, a student from the previous school she worked at. Takase worked several part-time jobs to support his guardians' hedonistic lifestyle, frequently missing school and receiving low grades. When Kawakami began to tutor him, she was ordered by the principal to stop or resign because of Takase's rumored delinquency. Takase was killed in a car accident shortly afterwards, and his guardians use his death to extort money from Kawakami, threatening to sue her if she does not comply.
Sojiro Sakura (佐倉 惣治郎, Sakura Sōjirō) is the owner of Café Leblanc and Joker's guardian during his probation. Originally cold toward Joker at the beginning of the game, Sojiro eventually warms up to him over time. He teaches Joker about coffee and curry when he works at the café. The protagonist later learns that Sojiro is Futaba's legal guardian, and adopted her after her mother's death. In Persona 5 Royal, Akechi's Confidant is also optional instead of automatic. Doing so is required to unlock the darts and billiard club and Jazz Jin, and will allow the protagonist to randomly uncover enemy weaknesses. The deadline for the manual confidant is the 18th of November, and the protagonist cannot interact with Akechi afterwards. Shido's palace represents pride and takes the form of a cruise ship sailing though a sunken Tokyo, where he and his conspirators live in luxury; rather than cognitive beings, the Shadows selves of Shido's conspirators also reside within the palace, having been drawn to his strong personality and ego. His treasure is a golden ship's wheel in his palace, manifesting as his legislative pin. After Shido's change of heart, he confesses his crimes in a press conference after his landslide victory. He is arrested at the end of the game, and Joker testifies against him at his trial. The master of the Palace, Maruki, once personally met, reveals himself to be the instigator of the weird incidents outdoors, such as the revival of Wakaba Isshiki or Morgana taking the form of a human boy. Since the trio ignored his warnings beforehand, he displays a clip showing Kasumi is the sister that died and the "Kasumi" with the protagonist is a fake called "Sumire Yoshizawa," whom Kasumi protected her from being hit by traffic because of her impulsive behavior, sacrificing herself in the process. Her Phantom Thief clothing now dissolves and the bow tied on her hair falls off alongside it, dropping her hair down as she watches in despair. Now in vehement denial of the truth as explained by Maruki and Akechi, Maruki uses this as an excuse to keep her hostage while sending a Hastur to battle them. After it's defeated, Maruki and Sumire vanish and he tells the boys to talk to him again after a week of reconsidering. Presumably to prevent Yoshizawa's parents from panicking and to keep the deal personal, Maruki also manipulated them to think that she's in a training camp. Alongside the normal school life is dungeon crawling gameplay of two different types within a realm called the Metaverse: story-specific dungeons called Palaces and randomly-generated Mementos dungeons. Both are populated by Shadows, physical manifestations of suppressed psyches that are modeled after mythological and religious figures. Within Mementos dungeons, the party can fulfill requests from non-playable characters (NPCs) received from a "Confidant" links. While navigating, the party uses stealth to avoid the sight of enemy Shadows, and some areas hold puzzles that can be solved using an insight ability known as "Third Eye", which highlights interactable objects and enemy strength compared to the party. When exploring story-centered Palaces, an "Alertness Meter" is present, where the party being spotted or fleeing combat results in security being raised. If security reaches 100%, the party is forced to leave the Palace. The Alertness level can be lowered by launching surprise attacks on and eliminating enemies, and also lowers automatically overnight. Throughout Palaces are locations known as "safe rooms". In them, the player can save their game, heal their party, and fast travel to other safe rooms within the Palace.
Kunikazu Okumura (奥村 邦和, Okumura Kunikazu) is president of Okumura Foods and Haru Okumura's father. Growing up poor, Okumura transformed his family's small company into a multi-million-yen business and founded the popular Big Bang Burger fast-food chain. Because he mistreats his staff, he is the most popular suggested target on the Phantom Thieves' online poll. Sumire is the Japanese word for violet flowers. One of the flower languages of the violet flower is "honesty," is ironic considering her living a false life as her sister, and allowing her cognition to be manipulated to hide from her own guilt. Another meaning to the violet flower is "faithfulness," which corresponds to the Arcana theme, representing how important the real Kasumi actually is to Sumire. Her codename "Violet" refers also refers to her name.
As a Confidant, Chihaya represents the Fortune Arcana and can boost Joker's social statistics and relationships with his other Confidants. She scams Joker out of ¥100,000 to buy a power stone, which turns out to be rock salt. When he confronts her and changes the heart of someone who is bothering one of her clients, she has him accompany her during her readings because she believes that he can change fate. Her employers (the Assembly of Divine Power, a group of New Age con artists) force her to sell fake power stones; she persists, since her readings say that she cannot escape. The protagonist convinces her that the future can be changed, and her destiny is molded by her actions. In New Game Plus, Akechi can wear his Black Mask outfit during the Sixth Heist and his Crow outfit during the Third Semester. This only changes his aesthetics and does not change his in-game properties. Investing in guts enables you to stand up to people during conversations and approach frightening situations. Guts can be increased a number of ways. Among the social stats, Guts seem to improve from the most diverse and often peculiar of sources. For instance, you can raise Guts by taking Takemi’s clinical trials. Like any other social stat, focus on those that don’t waste game time and those that boost multiple stats. Drinking the weekly beverage or drawing the group’s logo on the blackboard are examples of the former, while doing the Big Bang Burger challenge or spending time at the maid cafe are a few examples for the latter.

The 80+ hour game offers loads of replay value, and the upcoming release of the expanded version, Persona 5: The Royal will change up the story with new characters and plot twists. But as much as. Famitsu praised Persona 5 Royal's newer elements. Others in Japan expressed disappointment that the content could have been delivered as an expansion to the original game instead. By recommendation of her parents, Sumire consulted the therapist Takuto Maruki to help her overcome her depression. She told Maruki the only way for her to cope was to live as her sister. Maruki secretly had the power to fulfill that very wish through cognitive manipulation via his Persona, and does so, turning Sumire into a copy of Kasumi, and he also made "Kasumi" think that Sumire died instead of Kasumi. The real Kasumi was dead from the start, and the "Kasumi" that the protagonist encounters is merely a result of cognitive warping using Sumire as a vessel. Sumire enrolled into Shujin Academy as Kasumi and quickly managed to obtain a scholarship thanks to supposedly having her sister's qualities. By November 2017, that number had risen to over two million, which made it the best-selling game in the series. When she completes her Confidant, Futaba's Persona evolves into Prometheus. In Persona 5 Royal, her Persona can evolve into Al Azif. In gratitude, she gives Joker her promise list when he leaves Tokyo since she no longer needs it. If Joker is in a relationship with her, she gives him headphones for Christmas. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Futaba is featured in Joker's Final Smash, All-Out Attack, in addition to being a spirit. As with previous entries in the series, the game uses a turn-based combat system: battles can be initiated when the party runs into an enemy, or they can launch a surprise attack and gain an advantage in battle. In battle, the party has access to both melee and gun weapons, in addition to being able to summon Personas, manifestations of the main characters' inner psyche used mainly for special attacks. If a character strikes an enemy's weakness, they knock the enemy down and are awarded an additional turn. If all enemies are knocked down, a "Hold Up" is triggered. During one, the party can launch a devastating "All-Out Attack", demand money or items, or enter a negotiation. Negotiation allows Joker to win the selected Shadow over to their side to become a new Persona: they can only be persuaded to join if Joker is their level or higher. Similar to previous entries, party members can be knocked out, and if the main character is knocked out, the game ends. At times, if a party member is knocked out, they can be captured by enemy Shadows, and is unable to return to the party if the resultant negotiation fails. 【P5R 10 31発売！】ペルソナ５ ザ・ロイヤル 「明智吾郎」紹介動画■ Phantom Thieves of Hearts ├ Protagonist ├ Morgana ├ Ryuji Sakamoto ├ Ann Takamaki ├ Yusuke Kitagawa ├ Makoto Niijima ├ Futaba Sakura ├ Haru Okumura ├ Goro Akechi └ Kasumi Yoshizawa ■ Other Characters ├ Igor ├ Caroline & Justine ├ Sojiro Sakura ├ Mishima Yuuki ├ Tae Takemi ├ Sadayo Kawakami ├ Munehisa Iwai ├ Toranosuke Yoshida ├ Sae Niijima ├ Hifumi Togo ├ Chihaya Mifune ├ Ichiko Ohya ├ Shinya Oda ├ Takuto Maruki └ JoseGameSpew also noted the characters: "Yet as with any Persona game, its biggest selling point is how the game explores such ideas through its colourful cast of characters." The next day, Ren visits the places where he used to hang out with Akechi, reminiscing about their time together. Ren spends the whole day asking around about the words and finds nothing until he overhears a child whining his father about "Proof of Justice." When Ren asks, it turns out the words came from a toy gun commercial. Ren recognizes the toy gun as similar to the one Akechi used in the Palace. This makes Ren realize that the words represent Akechi's desire to be a hero. Back at Leblanc, Ren laments his inability to save Akechi, but is determined to move forward for the sake of his own proof of justice. The next morning, Ren arranges the chess board that he usually played with Akechi and places the chess piece he once entrusted to Akechi, acknowledging Akechi as his friend. "Kasumi" is a seemingly cheerful, elegant and friendly person with a seemingly perfect life, as she received a Shujin scholarship and was (supposedly) nearly uncontested in gymnast competitions. Unlike most other members of the Phantom Thieves, her family is also fully functional and caring towards her well-being. She also appears to be quite clumsy and careless, as she is shown outright missing the mark at the batting cages even if her reflexes are usually excellent, and she lets her phone's battery run out while texting the protagonist. Despite the fact that she can cook, she is unpredictable and somewhat clumsy at it, since she isn't sure about the ingredients, and she often uses stamina replenishing food due to her gymnast tendencies. It's because of that she eats a lot, that she considers a "normal" amount for a gymnast like herself and she also has large lunch box to prove this. She always refers to her fellow friends as "Senpai" no matter the situation, since she's the youngest member of the Phantom Thieves who had an educative degree. . She was first found in a box in an underground section of the Shibuya Jail by Joker after he first entered the Shibuya Jail via EMMA, a virtual assistant app, by accident. She then introduced herself as an Artificial Intelligence with her memories lost except her own name and her reason for existence, "To be a good friend of all humans". In the real world, she assists the Phantom Thieves as a virtual assistant such as navigation in their tour. Throughout the Phantom Thieves' adventure, she learns more about humans' emotions and began forming a bond with Joker and the rest of the Phantom Thieves. She was later revealed to be EMMA's prototype and was given her first command to be a good friend of all humans by her creator, Kuon Ichinose. However, she was deemed as a failure. Ichinose then forced a command on her to betray the Phantom Thieves. She resisted the commands after recalling her memories with the Phantom Thieves and managed to defied her creator's command and awaken her own persona to fight back. After she and the Phantom Thieves defeats Demiurge and EMMA ceased from existence, Sophia decides to accompany Ichinose on her journey, parting ways with the Phantom Thieves. Atlus revealed that the official title of Persona 5 R is Persona 5 The Royal through a trailer that features a mysterious new female character standing in Shibuya Square. It appears that the.
Akechi has shaggy, neck length brown hair with bangs and reddish-brown eyes. He wears a tan peacoat with black buttons, striped black and white tie, black pants, black gloves and black loafers. His casual winter outfit consists of a white long sleeve shirt with flaps under a blue diamond sweater vest, beige pants and brown shoes. Additionally, much unlike Kasumi, Sumire is said to be a decent cook, as when she was "Kasumi" she was able to prepare a curry bento with a similar taste as the curry served in LeBlanc. During the Third Term events, Sumire finds a middle ground between the two philosophies she's challenged by: she decides to finally solve her own problems and stand up for herself against the future (Kasumi's beliefs), but by deciding to take matters into her own hands, she also resolves to stop Maruki from controlling reality and to help the population of Tokyo with it's new crisis, and accepts others' help when needed (the Phantom Thieve's beliefs). Sumire herself is shown to be a lot more reserved and introverted person, in addition to being depressed and convinced of her own worthlessness to the point where she resents attempts to cheer her up, although this changes for the better as the protagonist advances her confidant. She suffered from an inferiority complex towards her near-perfect sister, fueled by being helped throughout her life by her. She has told the protagonist that Kasumi does most of the work for the twins bar preparing dishes, including arranging her very own bedroom. Her self-loathing created a despondent reaction to Kasumi's attempt at consoling her, believing it to be patronization rather than the genuine care she had. Her negative reactions to Kasumi ultimately resulted in the tragedy that ended her sister's life. The trauma of the incident instilled even more negativity and added survivor's guilt to her piling self-deprecation. Her encounter with Takuto Maruki ultimately provided an out by requesting to become Kasumi, granting her a sense of escapism by becoming her sister whom she both loved and was jealous of. . Despite his popularity at the arcade, he is swept up in a prank war with his classmates and vows to win (an aggressive trait learned from his mother, Hanae). When his classmates accuse him of bullying, he questions himself and becomes concerned when he realizes that his mother has become more unreasonable, arguing with his school concerning his education. After Hanae sees Shinya hanging out with Joker, she accuses the latter of being a bad influence to her son and threatens to report him to the police. After Joker changes her heart, Shinya makes amends to his classmates and gives Joker a Gun Controller before he leaves Tokyo. Suguru Kamoshida (鴨志田 卓, Kamoshida Suguru) is Shujin Academy's PE teacher and volleyball coach, a former professional athlete and Olympic volleyball champion. Kamoshida abuses and sexually assaults the students, which is ignored by the principal because of the volleyball team's fame and his status as a teacher. Kamoshida targets Ann as his latest sexual conquest; when she rejects his advances, he forces himself on her best friend, Shiho Suzui. Shiho's subsequent suicide attempt convinces Joker and Ryuji to change his heart. When Kamoshida is confronted by them and Mishima, he threatens to have the three of them expelled at the next school-board meeting.

The game's original score was composed, performed, and produced by series sound director Shoji Meguro. Further contributions, among other general sound design, was handled by Toshiki Konishi, Kenichi Tsuchiya, Atsushi Kitajoh, and Ryota Kozuka; all of them having previously worked on the series as well. Meguro was given full creative freedom to work on the soundtrack, with around 80% of the tracks used in the game being his, which lasted around three years in total. Seven tracks were performed in English by Lyn Inaizumi, a jazz and soul music singer. Her first performance in a video game, Inaizumi claimed that the most difficult part of her contributions was performing a rap segment in the opening theme, "Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There". The lyrics were written by Benjamin Franklin, while the ending song, "Hoshi To Bokura To", had lyrics written in Japanese by Shigeo Komori.

In honor of the game's Japanese release, the series-focused variety show Persona Stalker Club featured a new programming block titled Persona Stalker Club V. In promotion of the game in Japan, Atlus partnered with AKG Acoustics to release a limited edition wireless headphone based on the one Futaba wears in-game. To express the game's mood, Meguro incorporated strong acid jazz elements into the score. He also aimed to make the music sound more realistic than previous Persona games, aiming to match the game's visuals. Meguro also changed the way the music flowed when compared to the last two Persona games. Instead of the opening and ending themes being conglomerates of the overall score, he described the entire score as a single continuous work. A recurring musical element he included was described as a "do-la" syllable: the opening used "so la re mi" on strings as a hook, which then led into the "do-la" syllable for other tracks, including the normal battle theme. While he was creating the music, Meguro received positive comments from Hashino when he made early tracks created for an internal demo. Persona 5 marks the return of the award-winning franchise on home consoles since the PS2 generation, and is the first numbered Persona game in over eight years! The game's characters were generally well-received. According to Simon Miller of trustedreviews.com, "The cast of characters only gets better as the game progresses." The Verge also praised the cast: "Persona 5 has a memorable and lovable cast of characters ... the story is buoyed by a great cast of characters, who – in typical Persona fashion – start out as forgettable teenage archetypes, before revealing themselves to be layered, lovable individuals." Jose is a small young boy with gray hair in a shape of a half egg shell, yellow eyes, and ears that are very round and unusually undefined in shape. He wears an oversized white-grayish raincoat and boots with stars and moon motifs, black leggings and gloves. Jose also wears his goggles around his neck. Makoto Niijima (新島 真, Niijima Makoto), using the Phantom Thief codename "Queen", is the student-council president at Shujin Academy. Makoto, the school's top student, is considered the brains of the Phantom Thieves. Analytical, she can deduce conclusions, theorize in several situations, and make elaborate plans to succeed. Behind this exterior, she has an inferiority complex and often praises her sister Sae Niijima. Makoto feels that she is a burden to Sae because of their father's death, which is her motivation to work hard, be successful, and reduce her sister's stress. New Personas are gained from battle through successful negotiation, and different Persona types are represented through different arcana linked to Confidant links. Personas can be combined, or "fused", or otherwise further manipulated within the Velvet Room, a realm Joker visits as part of his journey through the story. In the Velvet Room, Personas can be fused with "Guillotine" fusion processes, with the resultant Persona inheriting skills and stats from its parents. The more skills a Persona has, the more are passed on to the fused Persona. How powerful Personas are through fusion depends on how advanced its associated Confidant link is. Also, Personas can be sacrificed in various ways, also styled after styles of capital punishment: "Hanging" grants a sacrificed Persona's experience points to another chosen Persona, and "Electric Chair" sacrifice one to create a high-end item. A Persona can also be sent into "Solitary Confinement", where they undergo intensive training and gain additional skills quicker than normal. The number of days a Persona must remain to gain strength lessens based on its arcana strength.
Unlike in the game, Ren's interactions with Akechi are shown in detail, such as having him help investigate Futaba's uncle in his blackmail against Sojiro Sakura. In Royal, this side of him is elaborated upon further during battle, as he refers to small Shadows as scum and delights in killing them. Akechi no longer cares what others may think of him, completely abandoning his detective prince persona. Now perfectly comfortable with his true self, he behaves more coldly and seriously, speaking in a straightforward manner without any sugar coating, regardless of who he's talking to. He won't bother making small talk, directing the conversation straight to the point. While Akechi seems to no longer hold any contempt for the Phantom Thieves, he is no kinder than before with them since they already knew his true nature. He also shows a morbid sense of humor, dryly suggesting they kill Maruki when handing him the calling card.
Akechi claims he entered the Metaverse a month before, and awakened to his Persona when he saw the black masked man kill Okumura. Akechi requests that he accompanies the Thieves on their heist in Sae's Palace in order to catch the real culprit and clear their name. In exchange, he'll destroy the photo evidence. However, another caveat is that the Phantom Thieves must disband after this last heist. With no other choice, the group agrees. At the 2015 Royal Rumble on January 25, Reigns was booed heavily after his victory despite portraying a heroic character. In February on WWE Raw, Paul Heyman praised Reigns as better than any other guy in history, which garnered negative reactions as Heyman stated esteemed wrestling figures, including Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and John. While she expresses admiration towards the protagonist, she dislikes the very idea of the Phantom Thieves, as she believes that people should learn how to solve their own problems instead of relying on others. Although she acknowledges that the Phantom Thieves do good by helping people, she worries that people may become heavily reliant on them to solve their problems and stop making their own efforts.

Fans have taken issue with Reigns over various reasons: his perceived special treatment, real-life demeanor, wrestling moveset, speaking skills and character presentation. After Reigns was suspended for drug use, Yahoo! Sports pondered whether he is "the biggest failure in professional wrestling history". In 2016, Reigns was voted the Most Overrated by Wrestling Observer Newsletter readers as well as the Most Hated Wrestler of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated readers, a first for a heroic character since the award was devised in 1972. Despite supposedly being an idol detective, this identity is nothing short of a fraud that he carefully crafted to grant him a public image in the hopes that it would make people accept him and mask his real personality; which was done by artificially fabricating and solving cases via mental shutdowns or psychotic breakdowns. He has the public's support only if he upholds the pretense of being a charismatic idol detective, and his fans are quick to turn on him if he makes mistakes, such as when the Phantom Thieves triumphed over Kaneshiro and Medjed. At the end of the first night for the live concert special Persona Super Live 2019, a full trailer for the updated version of Persona 5, called Persona 5 Royal, was shown. There was a ton of new. In late 2015, critics described WWE presenting Reigns' character as a "hard-luck underdog" chasing the world title, with WWE having "spent an overwhelming amount of time" on Reigns, "bending over backwards to create new obstacles for him to overcome ... at the expense of almost everyone else on the roster". In November 2015, Reigns received a "mixed, at best" reaction upon winning and losing his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the 2015 Survivor Series event after Sheamus, another villainous character, cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to defeat Reigns, a move made to try and get Reigns over with the crowd, and a positive reaction on winning his second world title at the Raw after TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 14, although a WrestleView writer reflected that "it's been downhill ever since" for Reigns from then until March 2016. In 2015 and 2016, WWE has reportedly taken several measures to hide fans' disapproval of Reigns, this included: confiscating anti-Reigns fan signs, editing out anti-Reigns fan signs for photos on their website, muting hostile crowds (including at WrestleMania 32) and piping in canned cheers during Reigns' appearances. In response, Brian Campbell of CBS Sports wrote that Anoaʻi "isn't even the best performer in his own company" and "wouldn't even finish in the top five" in the world. Meanwhile, fellow wrestler Kenny Omega commented that "it sounds so ridiculous" and that there was "no possible way" Anoaʻi believed what he said. Also that month, WWE vice president Triple H said regarding Reigns: "I think he is one of the best that WWE have right now ... the truth is, and some people will listen to this and want to argue against it, but honestly most of the people who argue against it aren't qualified to make that argument. I am". On the October 22, 2018 episode of Raw, Reigns announced that he was re-diagnosed with leukemia after 11 years and would be taking a hiatus to treat it. As a result, he relinquished the Universal Championship, ending his reign of 64 days. Reigns initially received a mixed reaction upon entering the arena, but was welcomed with a positive reception as well as chants of "Thank you, Roman!" after his announcement of leukemia was made. Reigns made his return on the February 25, 2019 episode of Raw to announce his leukemia was in remission, where he received a huge ovation from the crowd. On the following episode of Raw, Reigns would reunite with The Shield, leading to a match between Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin at Fastlane, which The Shield would win in Reigns's first match since his leukemia diagnosis. Both times, Reigns would be met with cheers. At WrestleMania 35, Reigns defeated Drew McIntyre in his first singles match since October 2018. However, he would be met with a mixed reaction by the crowd, with Pro Wrestling Dot Net writer Jason Powell stating that an estimated "70 percent of the fans booed Reigns while only 30 percent cheered for him before the match." He would also describe the match as "disappointing". Despite not being a real detective and instead a hitman, Akechi does have excellent deduction and analysis skills, as seen during Niijima's Palace and Maruki's Palace, as well as during Persona Q2; his quick and in-depth thinking allows him to be an effective asset when an ally. He is also extremely cunning, secretly planning a means to address Shadow Sae's last minute cheating in her palace without the knowledge of his teammates beforehand. This proves that even without having to fabricate cases, he actually does have what it takes to become a true detective. If the protagonist chooses to stay in Maruki's reality and has confirmed to do so, Akechi will be disappointed by his choice and angrily storm out, only to later reappear in the ending with his memory distorted by Maruki's power. The same bad ending that occurs when the protagonist directly accepts Maruki's offer will play afterwards.
Yuuki Mishima (三島 由輝, Mishima Yūki) is a classmate of Joker and Ann. A member of the volleyball club, he is a frequent target of Kamoshida's abuse. Mishima was forced to summon Shiho Suzui to Kamoshida's office, leading to a sexual assault and Shiho's suicide attempt; Kamoshida nearly expels him for confronting him with Joker and Ryuji. After Kamoshida's arrest, he realizes that Joker, Ryuji, and Ann are the Phantom Thieves. He creates and manages the Phantom Aficionados website, a fan site dedicated to the Thieves with a message board where people post requests for changes of heart. Mishima periodically sends the requests to Joker to enhance the Thieves' reputation. Akechi works for Masayoshi Shido as the "Black Mask" exploiting the Metaverse. He uses his Persona to assist Shido's campaign, but secretly plans to destroy his career by revealing himself as his illegitimate son when he becomes prime minister and avenging his mother's suicide. Akechi was forced to live in a series of abusive foster homes, and he is deeply contemptuous of society as a result. Because the Phantom Thieves are actively working against Shido, Akechi betrays them and also attempts to assassinate Joker, partly out of jealousy. After the Phantom Thieves defeat him in Shido's Palace, they offer to take him back; however, he sacrifices himself to save them when they are attacked by his cognitive self-created by Shido.

The "bad performance" was merely a 3rd runner up position. Nevertheless, the teachers think that Kasumi must get first place to restore the school's reputation that got tainted by Kamoshida's case. They decide the threat of revoking her scholarship would motivate Kasumi to do better despite Takuto Maruki saying that it would only be putting undue pressure onto her. When she returns to the construction site, the protagonist comes across her and as she accidentally triggers a copy of the Metaverse Navigator on her phone after correcting a random passerby that the site is a "Stadium" not a "Research Lab." It accidentally causes Kasumi, the protagonist and Morgana to intrude into an unknown Palace resembling a fusion between a cognitive hospital and a futuristic paradise. She meets a cognitive copy of what appears to be her sister which was quickly crushed by a Shadow that transforms into Byakhee, which chastises her for not knowing pity. This causes her to awaken Cendrillon, who defeats the Byakhee and the trio escape. Morgana attempts to persuade her to join them, although rejects the offer. In the second phase, Akechi focuses on Physical attacks. He will use Tetrakarn to repel Physical attacks and use Brave Blade afterward. The game was developed by P-Studio, an internal development studio within Atlus dedicated to handling the Persona series. Preparatory development of the game began in 2008, following the release of Persona 4, with full development beginning following the release of Catherine in 2011. Hashino was only fully involved in development after Catherine was finished, later calling the latter game a test for the next Persona game's development. Development lasted five years. Persona 5 would be Hashino's last game in the series as the leader of P-Studio, as he would afterwards form a separate internal team called Studio Zero. When production started, the staff consisted of around 40 people. During full production, this number expanded to 70: 15 planners, 15 programmers, and between 30 and 45 designers. These included the game's lead designer Naoya Maeda, who had previously done modeling work for the Trauma Center series. The general development was a challenge for the team, as they intentionally changed their development structure due to the more powerful hardware they were working with. Reigns' win of WWE's 2014 Superstar of the Year Slammy Award garnered surprise to the point of accusations of vote-rigging, although both Dave Meltzer and Pro Wrestling Insider allege the fan vote was legitimate. Writers from the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter criticized Reigns in 2014 and 2015, for a "very limited" in-ring moveset, "forced promo delivery" and a "petulant and annoyed" attitude ill-befitting of a top fan favorite. Fellow professional wrestler Mikey Whipwreck said Reigns was "trying to be like John Cena", who was "very polarizing".
