  1. I ordered a 3 month sub over at glp because I really wanted this issue. Quite a few of those dresses are gorgeous!
  2. Mine just came in the mail – I write the reviews much earlier than I have access to the actual magazine, so I did not know about the change at the time of writing. The US version is the same as the UK version as far as I know, but now I’m curious and need to check. 🧐

I think there are a lot of good basics in this issue. Would also like to make the pencil skirt and raglan sleeve dress. I do agree that a lot of these patterns are really similar to past patterns but they are a bit more updated in style lines. So not a bad issue overall. Quite practical I think. Viscose Blouse 106 12/18 Burda Style December 2018

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen both this bodice and skirt from Burda before, though perhaps not together in the same dress.  I like this dress, but I’m not wowed by it.  I also think it is much more successful in the matte wool crepe-like fabric than the ultra shiny satin.  Also, as a heads-up, this pattern is sized in the Burda Tall range.I can’t say that the kids section is that great this month, but then it’s going to be hard to compete with the super fun designs we’ve had lately: BurdaStyle 5/2018 - 114 Tie Front Sheath Dress but no instead I decided to make a dress! This is quite a basic sheath dress and I decided to make it in some of my bargain stretch cotton twill fabric. There is very little to say about the construction honestly. I feel like all the cool coat designs went into the October issue.  The coats and jackets this month really feel like a hodge-podge of leftover designs:

The full preview of the November BurdaStyle Magazine is up on both the German and Russian sites, which means it’s time for another Burda review!  October was definitely one of my favorite issues of the year, and I’m a bit sad to say that November isn’t quite living up to that level of excitement for me.  For some reason this issue feels a bit like the fall leftovers edition.  There isn’t anything really outstanding, but there isn’t anything truly terrible either.  It’s all just sort of there.  But, as always, there is plenty to look at, so let’s get started: December 2, 2018. This is the top version of that green floral dress from above; I definitely like it much more as a top.  The sleeves also look to be 3/4 length, which makes the cuff ties more of a fun detail and less of something I’d worry about ending up in my soup. How could you not think of Bjork when you saw the swan costume? LOL I only like the one pullover top (hoodie) in this issue. Re the rayon culottes, it is warm enough in the southern US to wear these in November. And it is in Fall colors. Just saying. Also, people in the southern hemisphere are going into their warm-weather season. It’s not September without a dirndl, so that’s what we get this month.  I believe this may be a special designer pattern, but I won’t be entirely sure until my magazine arrives. November 2018 BurdaStyle Magazine - Doctor T Design

Mmm, not a huge amount in this one that excited me – but the Dirndl is lovely (pity I’ve got one underway) and I love the vintage bow jacket!! I just wouldn’t know what sort of fabric to make it in… I’d think maybe a ponte but I’m not sure the bow would work. Suggestions anyone? Burda Style 7/2019. See more ideas about Burda style magazine, Sewing patterns and Sewing clothes I’m always up for a good knit top, and this one seems decent.  The side gather could be a fun detail, as could the diagonal seam, which provides some possible color blocking options as well.  I like the boat neck, and it’s kind of just nice to see an option that isn’t massively voluminous or showcasing crazy flouncey sleeve features. burda style De peste 15 ani Burda te ajută să îți definești stilul! And that brings us to the end of the November issue!  As I said, nothing terrible, but just sort of a whole lot of meh.  Still, for consistency we’ve got to pick a top and bottom pattern for the month.  There wasn’t a whole lot that left me drooling, but in the end I’ve given the Best of BS Award to: Всі Burda Style Burda Style Каталог Burda 2/2018. I chose this beautiful John Kaldor polyester crepe because I thought the print would look lovely in this simple tunic and these colors were wonderful for spring The only thing cool about this sweater is the sleeve detail, but I feel like it is entirely lost in the model photo, especially in a small print like this.

This coat is pretty basic; perfect for the faux fur fabric Burda is using here.  It’s cute – the collar looks really cozy, and the slanted patch pockets are a fun and somewhat practical detail.  I just can’t ever really get too excited about fur coat designs.  They are simple of necessity, and the finished product is nice, if you are wanting a fur coat, but there’s never really much to get really excited about with them design-wise.Ooh and I have to say, in your wtf pic, I was watching The Good Fight and one of the attorney’s had on an adorable Gucci necktie(?) and I got instantly fascinated by it. So while the one pictured here is a little gaudy for me with the rhinestone buckle, I’m thinking I’m going to make one for fall! Minimal investment if I hate it :-pI feel like Burda has given us very similar (like, really similar) styles in the past, but I do think this is a nice dress for fall.  The neck bow motif is echoed here, and this dress has a cool vintage chic vibe going for it as well.  I think it looks great in both the solid and print fabrics, which makes it pretty versatile.

  4. This sweatshirt dress seemed a bit out of place when contrasted with all of the very tailored looks that are in the rest of this issue, but I think the sequins really save it.  Honestly, from the line drawing, I would have thought it might be a nightgown with elastic cuffs, but in the sequin fabric the simple lines totally make sense.  Not the most inventive style this month, but, I am a bit of a magpie, so for the sparkle it can be forgiven.
  5. And there we have it – another month down, and one more issue left to go!  I’m really hoping for something good in December – I really want some fabulous party dresses Burda!  Or, well, something more exciting than this lot in any case.  I feel like November has often been one of my favorite issues of the year, which is perhaps why this one feels so disappointing, but really, I’m just not that excited.  What do you all think?  Am I being too harsh?  Is there some level of creative brilliance I’m missing?  Am I perhaps too saturated from staring at patterns for my Kibbe posts?  Or is this issue really that disappointing?  There are certainly styles I like, but I just feel sort of emotionally detached from this issue as a whole.  Are you excited for this month or does this feel like a sort of catch-all issue for orphan patterns?  Feel free to discuss in the comments!

Burda 12/2018 December 2018 Browsethrough and Sewing Plans

This Burda Style top caught my attention with its twist detail at the waist and the pleats hidden under it. The fabric was purchased last April at Tissus Mode De L'Orme in Granby, QC. This rayon-Lycra knit has a soft hand and four-way stretch. The center back seam helps to create a nice shape and would come in helpful if adjustments were needed Regarding Melania… I’m not so sure she is, but it’s great that my blog readers are so kind.I recently admired a vintage-styled garment with a collar in a totally different fabric. Would a softer fabric collar in either a matching or contrasting colour work for your vision? The contrast kangaroo pouch pocket looks like a maternity panel and in any case why would I want to call attention to my abdomen even if it weren’t poochy? Love the sheath dress with interesting seaming, that’s one of Burda’s strengths. The pattern came from the BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook which I found in my local library. In fact I checked it out, came home and found the pattern sheet for the coat was missing. I had to go back to the library, find another copy (which did have the coat pattern) and then point out that the first copy was missing that pattern sheet

Since we are heading into the fall/winter season, we are starting to see a lot more coat options than in the past few months:I really like this wrap dress, but, it is just a wrap dress.  I know wrap dresses are always in style, but between this issue and the Vogue release it feels like they are having a bit of a resurgence.  I like the really classic shape of this one, and the drape of the skirt is quite pretty.

And there we have it – another month down!  While I have to admit I’m a little disappointed by this month’s issue, I think it’s only because I have high expectations for the Burda fall fashions.  I think Burda has produced an issue with lots of on-trend looks, and the Burda Plus section is particularly good this month.  I have the feeling this might be another of those sleeper issues for me.  Aside from the Best of BS pick for the month, nothing is really jumping off of the overly dense pattern sheets at the moment, but I think the sheath dress, pencil skirt, and a few of the tops could easily find their way into future sewing plans.  What do you all think?  Is there anything here that is going to jump to the top of your fall fashion sewing list?  Or do these styles seem a bit redundant from what we’ve seen in Burda’s back catalog?  Feel free to discuss your top picks and favorite styles in the comments!I agree with you that it’s a bit of a dull issue. I was hoping for more great coats and didn’t get them! The Plus section is the best for me; the patterns are interesting and the model they used looks amazing. I like the wrap dress too. #BurdaStyle BURDA STYLE DECEMBER 2018/12 TECHNİCAL DRAWİNGS | BURDA ARALIK 12/2018 TEKNİK ÇİZİMLER. 5. Thanks for the review! And while there is some vibe of incoherence/leftovers, I still got excited about two plus dresses, with black trim and black/flowery print from the preview. Because these are such a solid well drafted garments. Also asymmetric gathered top and blue dress getting my thumbs up. And wrap dress. But those cullotes are (still) so beyond me styling wise, in all seriousness. Happy sewing!

December 2019 BurdaStyle Magazine - Doctor T Design

I love this skirt!  The fabric flap that acts as a belt loop is such a cool design feature!  Plus, it looks stellar in the solid and the print.  I seriously want one in every color. We all should know I’m a sucker for a sheath dress with cool seaming by this point, so I don’t think I’ll surprise anyone by proclaiming my love for this dress.  The collar is a great detail, and the princess seam shaping will help with a close fit.

Like the dresses, I’m finding the tops this month to be very wearable, though not exceptionally exciting :I’m so excited about this jacket!  I feel like it is the perfect fall coat – casual, sporty, long enough to provide protection against windy weather, plus, it’s got a hood.  I love that the pink variation provides some nice feature options, and I’m seriously wondering if I could track down some puffy insulated fabric to make a longer puffer coat for winter.  I can’t wait for this pattern to arrive! The February issue had quite a few nice patterns, but I decided to make the high waisted pencil skirt 2/2018 #119 to see me through the last few weeks of our summer. The jacket that goes with this skirt (in the photo below) is on my to do list for winter, possibly with a matching skirt in a nice tweed or boucle You are commenting using your Facebook account. I’m quite surprised by your comments about this issue… But I can see that the designs are maybe less exciting then the October ones. Also, as you mentioned I’m seeing a lot of repetition too (wrap tops and dresses, etc.) However, for once, these patterns are exactly what I wanted! I saw this fantastic faux fur fabric and here it is, the perfect coat pattern for it! And I’ve been keeping this dark teal wool gabardine fabric in my stash for a while, it will finally be put in good use for the pantsuit! Moreover I just bought an ombre jacquard cotton fabric that will be perfect for the short jacket. I like all the dresses and I’m planning to make the blue one in denim to wear as a smart casual dress. I like the top with the pintuck, as well as the hoodie and the jersey top with the side gather. I can also see an outfit made out of the pintuck top and the weird culottes/pants if made of a more substantial fabric and worn with slouchy boots, very hippie chic non? The Burda Style challenge Feburary; The Tunic Dress The second challenge of the month! I'm taking part in Hila's BurdaStyle challenge #burdachallenge2018 , so this is my second garment, this time from the February 2018 magazine It’s nearly impossible to see the detail of this dress in either the model photo or the garment photo, but the line drawing shows lots of nice seaming and top stitching details.  This could be a great office dress for the fall/winter, especially over tights.  Not sure about the crazy boots the model is wearing, but, you know, to each their own.

The BWTF award was a bit more challenging to assign, as nothing was truly disappointing this month, but I’ve decided it should go to: Burda 08/2018 #101 is traceable or available for download. The fit on this dress was spot on for me, and it was pretty simple to trace the pattern pieces since there were so few. As with all Burda magazine patterns, the instructions provided were minimal. However, since there are very few seams, construction was straightforward

I like this wrap over blouse, but it really feels like leftovers from last month, especially in this bright purple color.  The understated ruffle is working for me here – once again it’s cute without being overwhelming.I believe this is a faux-wrap top?  The bottom has a faux-wrap peplum-ish style anyway.  The pintuck detail is an interesting feature.  Based on the line drawing I’d not have been too interested, but the model photos are kind of selling me on this look. 4. I think the blazer could totally work for a Theatrical Romantic – it has waist emphasis and a mix of soft and sharp lines. It’s my personal favorite pattern this month, even though I didn’t pick it as the Best of BS award. Agree that the kids costumes are very odd for this time of year.

It is really hard to sew without them even for experienced sewers, especially if one wants to sew a more ambitious pattern with 10 or more pattern pieces. I’m a bit torn on this one – I like the burgundy version with the slim pockets, but I’m much less of a fan of the brown version with the patch pockets.  With the design-heavy burgundy print, this simple style of jacket makes sense; it lets the fabric shine.  On the brown version the patch pockets are almost too much of a contrast and take up so much of the front of the jacket it seems unproportional.  The piping details are fun though. 13.3k Followers, 123 Following, 482 Posts - See Instagram photos and videos from Burda Style Italia (@burdastyleitalia Posts about BurdaStyle written by mtetar. I doubt Burda could have predicted the Meghan Effect, but regardless, this trench dress is really slick.  I’m normally more interested in a trench coat than a trench dress, but social media and Burda’s lovely drafting may have won me over on this trend.I always buy the september magazine from burda just because I love those dirndl dresses, but I never make them (I did try once but it failed). There are lots of subtle details in this pattern, and I think it sort of just works.  Normally I find detail work around the front collar to be overdone, but here I think it offers a nice balance to the slightly bell shaped sleeves.  I can’t say I’m excited by the ruffle, but I don’t hate it either.  This isn’t making it to the top of my to-sew list, but I do think there are lots of fun details included in this design.

  3. This wrap top is the same as the dress from above.  I still like it.  Interesting how they showcase it being worn over a button down, almost like a cardigan.  I wonder how well the wrap stays wrapped.

I really like the tie-neck jacket but I know it doesn’t actually fit my life right now. But it’ll definitely get marked in my book of tech drawings. Very chic. Burda October 10/2018 above with the cut-on sleeves-I have to see how much fabric it takes. I have a couple of contenders but am thinking that pleated skirt may use more fabric than I think. EN Last Sunday I talked with you about my DIY capsule wardrobe and this is my first item I finished. I think a camel coat is a great basic and very versatile. I made a camel coat before, but it was a very cheap fabric (here is a throwback to 2012), so it wore off quite fast.Since I gave the old camel coat away this spring (after I haven't worn it for two years), I always felt the need to sew. This top from the 11/2011 issue has been on my to-sew list forever, so of course I like this pattern!  Honestly, the only real difference seems to be the angle of the overlap, and possibly lack of a dropped shoulder here, but, otherwise pretty much the same.  I really love the looks of the soft folds and drapes, and it looks like it would be really comfortable to wear, especially in a nice jersey. The December Burda has barely been out and the January Preview is up! I've been pretty excited by most of the issues from 2017, and it looks like this is going to roll into 2018 too. I can't wait for this issue! I love so many of the patterns coming out next month, not t Burda’s been really into the cropped pants of late.  While I think these look great if you want a super fitted pair of short pants, I was hoping for something a bit more transitional for the fall months.

If I had to guess, I’d say that this might become the most popular pattern from the magazine.  I feel like this dress has some nice design features, without being too complex.  The silhouette is simple, chic, modern, but neither too fitted nor too voluminous.  It’s one of those smart dresses that can be fairly versatile with styling.  I love how it fits the theme of the subtle vintage chic that Burda’s channeling in this issue. burda style. 173K likes. www.burdastyle.de - Modestrecken aus dem Heft, Schnitte zum Download und viele tolle Ideen und Tipps zum Thema DI

I am quite let down by August and September which is troubling because there’s never been a year that those weren’t my favorite! While I don’t find any of the September dresses to be particularly amazing, I do this many of the styles are solid basics: Burda-Style 6639 - Introduction to Border Prints. I'm pretty excited about this dress because it's my first time using a border print. I've always admired the amazing garments my sew sisters manage to create with gorgeous border print fabrics

So much great shaping on this dress!  Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of the slightly puffed sleeves, but otherwise I really love the look of this dress. Heya - thank you for this nice display of what is to come in the December 2018 issue of Burda. I agree, it is a wee bit underwelming, but that is just how it is, sometimes. Burda Style 7137. Ribbed Knit Dress - Burda Style 7137 December 14, 2016. Search. About Me. I'm Anita Morris and I love to sew my own clothes. I also enjoy teaching others the basics of garment construction. If you're new to sewing, or just thinking about giving it a try, you've come to the right place. It is my joy to share my passion. Heh I loved this one. The coat with the top stitching is my favourite but the wrap top and the seam detail dress are also great. And honestly, three good patterns for the price of the magazine in the UK is a bargain. Weirdly I also like the jacket with the peplum and the bow, but it’s way too fussy for me to wear. The crazy summer culottes!  Honestly though, these are a tie-waist culotte made in a crazy print fabric.  There aren’t any exceptionally exciting features to redeem it.  I mean, I do like the effect of the waist tie, but I feel like it could make it harder to get the garment on or off.  I can’t even say I like the way Burda styled it here – it seems so disconnected from, well, everything.  It probably wouldn’t have been in the bottom had it been paired with a bikini in the summer, but, as presented, it really is kind of a BWTF. Burda magazine October 2018. This is turning into quite the magazine review week!Between getting my next sewing pattern ready for release (it's with my testers now!) and working on the boat renovations every single weekend, I've had precious little time to devote to sewing recently, and when I do, I end of sewing easy TNT garments instead of spending time photoshooting or blogging about them

Burda magazine September 2018 - FehrTrad

Ok, I know this is a really basic sweater/sweatshirt, but I’d totally live in this all winter.  The slightly oversized slouchy style looks so comfortable!  It’d be a great way to use up some knit fabrics too.  And the hoodie version is pretty cute as well – the different pocket detail elevates the look a bit beyond the typical sweatshirt style. So I just did this simple nightgown. Liv loves my bear-shirt. She would often choose it for me, saying I should wear it. So I took the rest fabrics and some simple forest-green-ish jersey I had at home. I took a simple Raglan Shirt pattern from BurdaStyle, and only adjusted the length to go about under Liv's knees. Voila

Burda magazine December 2017. Has it seriously been another full year from Burda already? I swear it only feels like yesterday that I was completing my Burda challenge to make one pattern from each issue, but that was five years ago!!Looking at my schedule for next year, I doubt I'll be able to do that again soon, but I really would like to start making more from my magazine archive It's pattern number 102 from the December 2018 issue and available as pdf from the Burda site: Link to the pattern. A very easy pattern, 4 pattern pieces and made in a stretch fabric. It's more close fitting/slim fit than I would normally make Another dress that is cute, but not particularly new or exciting.  I do like the sleeve ruffle here – it’s a cute detail without being overwhelming.Blue velvet pants!  Aside from the fabrication, I still can’t imagine thinking of these baggy elastic waisted pants as “fashionable.”  There isn’t much to redeem them; they don’t even appear to have pockets.

This flower dress was in the October preview for this month, and it gave me such high hopes for this issue.  Sadly, this dress is one we’ve seen before.  It’s a good style – I really like it on the models and in the line drawing, but it’s not something that was missing from the BurdaStyle Plus line.  I’m also tragically sad that the red coat was just a prop and not an actual pattern because I really wanted to see that worn by the model. Don’t get me started on teal being an indecisive colour (blue? green?)The oversized drapiness doesn’t bother me as much with this pattern, perhaps because of the more fitted sleeves?  It might still be a lot of volume for some people to wear, but she at least doesn’t look like she is drawing in the top, despite it being objectively wider than the previous style.

Its the last Burda Style of the 2018! Post is a browsethrough of Burda 12/2018 sewing magazine issue. All the styles and line drawings Remember to LIKE and SUbscribe! Favourites - Burdastyle 12. It’s that time of year again – the time of year when we get to eagerly anticipate the fall and winter BurdaStyle fashions!  Is it me, or do people tend to get more excited about the sewing seasons they don’t live in?  Personally, I find myself eagerly anticipating the August-December issues, even though my winters could be described as mild at best, and probably closer non-existent moving forward.  Either way, I’m always anxious to see the September issue, even though it’s often full of dirndls.  Happily, we only have one new dirndl pattern this year, but somewhat sadly, I wasn’t that impressed by the remaining designs.  I think there are good patterns this month, but not necessarily great ones.  Either way, there’s lots to see, so let’s get started: Posted on June 15, 2018 by Lisa Poblenz (patternandbranch) Standard. It feels like it took the entire spring season, but I finally finished this batch of projects. Well, ok, I didn't finish the muslins, but do I have to count those? This dress, Burda Style 7114, was the last real garment (since muslins are proto-garments in my mind). It.
